How do I attach the LED strips to a surface?
Each LED strip comes with an industrial strength adhesive backing. Carefully peel the blue tape off the back, but leave the sticky white tape underneath on. Then simply stick the strip on any clean surface, pressing firmly as you move down the full length of the strip.
How do I set up the HyperDrive?
We recommend attaching the LED strip(s) to the desired surface first. Then, connect the control box to the adapter cable, and the adapter cable to the LED strip. Next, simply plug the power adapter into an outlet and connect the USB cable to the HyperDrive controller. Let there be light!
How many LED strips can I run off one HyperDrive controller?
Each controller connects to one LED strip. That LED strip can be extended by attaching a second strip to the end of the first, doubling its length.
That means one controller can drive either one 4m (13ft) LED strip, or one 8m (26ft) strip (made up of two 4m strips connected to each other).
How do I use the HyperDrive LEDs?
The HyperDrive LEDs will blast out photons as soon as they’re plugged in. By default it will play patterns from the “Kaleidoscopic” mode, changing pattern every 60 seconds and generating new random colors every 10 seconds. You can manually change the pattern with a single press of the button on the control box, and change mode with a double press. Holding the button for 2 seconds turns the LEDs off. For additional control and customization, download and connect the Hyperspace Lighting app!
Can I cut the LED strips to any desired length?
Yes, the LED strips can be cut along the dotted copper lines, between each and every LED.
Do the LED Strips work without the mobile app?
Yes! The app is used to fully control and customize the cube, but the HyperCube is fully functional without it, and patterns/modes can be switched with the physical button on the control box. To sync multiple devices together, however, you do need an external WiFi network and access to the app (though the network does not need to have internet access – a router in the desert broadcasting a signal will do the trick).
Can I use the app when I’m not connected to WiFi at home?
Absolutely! The app connects via WiFi, but you don’t need to be at home to use it. The HyperDrive controller has its own WiFi hotspot that you can connect to from anywhere. So if you’re at a festival, out in the desert in the middle of nowhere, etc, you’ll have no problem connecting to the cube and controlling it!
Is there a DMX control or software for professional lighting designers to customize?
Our controller does allow for WiFi E1.31 control out of the box, but we’re looking into other cable adapters that will allow the cube to be hooked into compatible controllers.
Will you open the app to user programmed patterns?
That’s the plan! It requires more development time, but is on the roadmap and something that we are actively working towards.
